Rotary Leadership Institute
The Rotary Learning Institute will be held in Greenville, MS on Saturday August 16th from 9a.m. until 4p.m. at First Presbyterian Church @ One John Calvin Circle, Greenville, MS 38701. You can find the registration link below. The RLI Fee is $60 per Part. Please pay the Fee with a bank card or by ACH when you register online. RLI seeks to provide quality education in Rotary knowledge and leadership skills to Rotarians interested in developing their Rotary participation and to those identified by Rotary Clubs as having a potential in club leadership. These educational opportunities will teach skills that will benefit the members in their lives and in their volunteer service. If you are interested in taking part in this training, please see Don Roberts. The RLI Fee pays for a light breakfast, lunch, and course materials. August 5th Meeting
Alli Shaw spoke to the Rotary Club of North Jackson during its August 5, 2025, meeting. Shaw spoke on bitcoin 101, the tail of two systems. She compared money/dollars verses the bitcoin. Bitcoin is a decentralized digital currency that you can buy, sell and exchange directly, without an intermediary like a bank. Bitcoin’s creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, originally described the need for “an electronic payment system based on cryptographic proof instead of trust.” Every Bitcoin transaction that’s ever been made exists on a public ledger accessible to everyone, making transactions hard to reverse and difficult to fake. That’s by design: Core to their decentralized nature, Bitcoins aren’t backed by the government or any issuing institution, and there’s nothing to guarantee their value besides the proof baked in the heart of the system.
