Club Announcements:
February 20th Speaker
Rabbi Joseph Rosen of the Beth Israel Congregation in Jackson will be our guest speaker on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. Rabbi Rosen will talk about his congregation and how the local Jewish community is reacting to the October 7, 2024, attacks on Israel by Hamas. Rabbi Rosen has been at Beth Israel since 2019.
Proposed New Member Announcement
David W. Martin has been proposed for membership in the Rotary Club of North Jackson by Jeff Adcock. He is sponsored for membership by Past President Don Roberts. David is a former member of the Rotary Club of North Jackson. He joined our Club in 2007 and was a member until relocating to Jonesboro, Arkansas early in 2013. While in Jonesboro he became a member of the Rotary Club of Jonesboro.
He returned to Jackson to become the Chief Financial Officer of the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi. He has lived in the metro area for more than 40 years. Currently he lives in Ridgeland with his wife, Susan. They have one adult son.
David graduated from Mississippi State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and later earned his master’s degree from The American College of Financial Services in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. He is a Certified Financial Planner and a member of the Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accountants. He will be loaned the classification, Diocesan Executive, after his membership is approved by the Board. This is the 2nd publication of this proposed new member.
Women in Rotary Luncheon
The Women in Rotary Luncheon will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 11:30a.m. - 1:00p.m. at the Country Cub of Jackson. If you are interested in attending, please see Suzy Tubb.
February 13th Meeting
Dr. Stephanie Rolph, Interim Provost at Millsaps College, spoke to the Rotary Club of North Jackson during their February 13, 2024, meeting. Dr. Rolph gave club members and guest an update on Millsaps's current and future plans. O God our help in ages past, our hope for years to come, we invoke your blessings upon us and your presence with us as we gather to renew our friendship with each other and our responsibility for the welfare of others. In this month of celebrating the birthdays of the stalwart statesmen who led our nation in such crucial times, we are grateful for those men of religious faith, courage and conviction. We are not unmindful of common physical needs, so accept our thanks for food to sustain our bodies and fellowship to enrich our relationships. With praise and honor to your holy name. Amen.
