Republican pundit, prognosticator and local attorney Andy Taggart spoke to the Rotary Club of North Jackson
at its August 19 meeting. The subject of his presentation was the outlook for the 2014 Congressional elections
and the 2016 Presidential election. He avoided the recent contentious Republican Primaries in Mississippi. Mr.
Taggart stated that as a prognosticator his 2012 record was not good. He fearlessly forecast that the Romney-
Ryan ticket would win, but they did not. He recounted that his forecast for 2008 had been essentially "spot-on,"
with a forecast that Candidate Obama would win by 200 electoral college votes. Except for a narrow Republican
victory in North Carolina,  the difference would have been 200 electoral votes.

Mr. Taggart said that the Republicans need a net gain of 6 Senatorial seats in the fall of 2014 and that while
quite possible and maybe even likely, the "ball is in the air", given the past voting records of the states, the
respective candidates and the national perspective. He said that he does expect the Republicans to continue
to
control the U. S. House of Representatives and maybe even expand their majority.

With respect to the 2016 Presidential election, he made no forecast except to say that it will be tight. He
expects that Hillary Clinton may be the Democratic Candidate, but that the Republican Candidate's identity
is "up i the air", with the outcome depending on how badly the Republicans beat up each other in the
primaries and in the intra-party debates. We thank  Mr. Taggart for his time and his insight..He is shown below
during his presentation.
