Dennis Watts, Ph.D., Associate Provost, Belhaven University, spoke to the Rotary Club of North Jackson at its September 30 meeting about Belhaven's new Nursing program (Fall 2014) and the need for nurses in Mississippi. According to Dr. Watts, the State of Mississippi expects to need 390 new nurses annually. Belhaven's new program will help meet that need by graduating B.S. Nurses and providing an online program by which Registered Nurses with associate degrees can obtain B.S. degrees. The State has a goal of having 80% of its nurses having B.S. degrees. Currently, B.S. Degree nurses account for 31.4% of the state's nurses. Dr. Watts is shown below with club member & Past President Kevin Russell and Club President Sean Culhane. We thank Dr. Watts for his presentation and for the commitment that Belhaven University has made to the State of Mississippi.Image
