Jackson attorney, Matthew McLaughlin spoke to the Rotary Club of North Jackson at its December 30 meeting about Mississippi's beer laws. Mr. McLaughlin discussed the three tier distribution system that exists in Mississippi and in most of the United States. Those three tiers are the brewer, a distributor and a retailer, each of whom adds a fee. The law prohibits a brewer from selling beer for offsite consumption to visitors to its brewery. They may provide limited  product samples to those visitors, but not sell beer to them. This legislation is severely limiting the craft breweries that are springing up in Mississippi.Mr. McLaughlin is shown below on the right in the photo. We thank Mr. McLaughlin for his very interesting presentation.
