Josh Brooks, the Athletic Director at Millsaps College spoke to the Rotary Club of North Jackson at its August 12 meeting. Mr. Brooks is a native of Hammond. LA. He received a Bachelors Degree from Louisiana State University and a Masters Degree from the University of Georgia. His initial career ambition was to be a football coach. He initially pursued that goal at LSU where he was a an equipment manager and an undergraduate assistant coach. Following graduation from LSU, Mr. Brooks migrated to the University of Louisiana, Monroe (ULM), where he was a graduate assistant coach. From ULM, Mr. Brooks migrated to the University of Georgia where he became an Assistant Athletic Director. In 2014 he moved to Millsaps as Athletic Director.

In his presentation, Mr. Brooks described the steps that he has taken in pursuing his career path and his goals for Millsaps Athletic Department. He sees his primary function as supporting student athletes. In addition, he want to expand the role that Millsaps plays in the community and the City of Jackson. In his career, Mr. Brooks has had the pleasure of being "chewed out" by Alabama head football coach Nick Saban when he was at LSU, plus having the opportunity to interview several times to be on the staff  of Florida State University head football coach JImbo Fisher.
