Ms. Jacqueline Dace, Project Manager for the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum spoke to the Rotary Club of North Jackson about the two museums under construction in downtown Jackson at the Club's July 29, 2014 meeting. The two museums are the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum and the Museum of Mississippi History. They will share a common entry and are expected to open in the Fall of 2017. Ms. Dace is a southern Illinois native with extensive museum experience and Mississippi roots. In fact, her mother's family just celebrated its 88th family reunion in Mississippi. Ms. Dace's primary subject was the Civil Rights Museum for which she is responsible. The Civil Rights Museum will trace Civil Rights for the past 10,000 years, but its primary focus will be the turbulent times from the 1940s through the 1960s. It will be a multimedia interpretive museum with recording from many of the actual participants in the Civil Rights struggle.

Ms. Dace is shown below during her presentation. The slide on the wall behind her is of the entry area to the two museums. The Mississippi Civil Rights Museum is on the left side of the slide and the Museum of Mississippi History is on the right. The red arrow is the common entry for the two museums. We thank Ms. Dace for her presentation and look forward to the opening of the museums.
