MS State Economist Speaks to Rotary Club of North Jackson

Dr. Darrin Webb, MS State Economist spoke to the Rotary Club of North Jackson at its October 14, 2014 meeting. The subjects of Dr. Webb's presentation were the national and MS economies, their recent history, current status, and near term expectations. Dr. Webb said that the recovery from the 2008-2009 recession has been slower than is normally experienced following recessions. The expectation is that the economies will recover at between 2 & 3% annually in 2015 & 2016. Per Dr. Webb, this slow recovery rate is typical of financially caused recessions compared with supply-demand caused recessions. Dr. Webb is shown below with his National and State GDP slides.
