Beth Orlansky and Whitney Barkley, attorneys for the Mississippi Center for Justice (MCJ) spoke to the Rotary Club of North Jackson at the club's November 4, 2014 meeting. Ms. Orlansky spoke on the History and Mission  of the Mississippi Center for Justice and Ms. Barkley spoke on the MCJ's work regarding predatory practices of for profit colleges. According to Ms. Barkley, most people can name one or more for profit colleges. She said that their tuition can run up to 6 times that of not for profit institutions with the same course offerings. She showed a slide that shows that less than 50% of those colleges' revenue goes for educationally related expenses and that marketing represents 19% of their revenue with profit running 37% of revenue. Ms. Orlansky and Ms. Barkley are show below during their respective presentations. We thank them for their very interesting and informative presentations.
