Kent Buckley, a polio survivor, spoke to the Rotary Club of North Jackson during its October 21, 2025, meeting. Buckley, the son-in-law of Club Past President Rob Whitley, informed club members about growing up with polio. He was 4 1/2 and his baby sister was 10 months old when they got polio in 1958. They got polio by receiving the vaccine from an unshaken vial, which gave them a concentrated dose of the vaccine. It was unheard of for the virus to be received that way. They both had to wear corrective shoes with braces. Today, Buckley still has left leg issues that were affected by Polio. Shown from left to right in the photo below are Past Club President Rob Whitley, Buckley, and Club President Neelam Goel.
