The Very Reverend Edward O'Connor, Dean of St. Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral, spoke to the rotary Club of North Jackson at its April 15, 2014 meeting. The subject of Rev. O'Connor's talk was "What the church/faith community can learn from Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)". Rev. O'Connor stressed that AA emphasizes that the problems of the alcoholic can not be eliminated without a change to eliminate the thing that is causing the problems. In this case it is eliminating alcohol. It is similar to a keystone without which an arch will collapse A complete arch is a symbol of strength, but without the keystone, there is no arch. Similarly, the church can not be successful without a full commitment to its mission. Rev. O'Connor is shown below.
